元宵節(jié)是中國農(nóng)歷正月十五，為新年的第一輪滿月，象征和睦與團(tuán)圓。它是闔家歡聚的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日，掛各式各樣燈籠是最隆重的活動。夜晚，人們走上街頭，觀看舞獅、猜燈謎、燃放煙花，老少同樂。元宵節(jié)也標(biāo)志著春節(jié)正式落幕，此后人們的生活回歸日常。
英文原文：The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month. This is the first full moon of the New Year, symbolizing harmony and reunion. It is traditionally a time for family reunion. The most prominent activity of the festival is the display of all types of beautiful lanterns. On that night, streets and lanes are decorated with a variety of lanterns. People gather in the streets, watching dragon dance, guessing lantern riddles, and lighting fireworks. It’s really a lot of fun for the old and the young. The Lantern Festival marks the end of the New Year season and afterwards life returns to daily routine.

猜燈謎詳解
燈籠主人將謎面寫在紙條上，貼于燈籠表面。賞燈者猜出謎底后，取下紙條找主人核對，回答正確即可領(lǐng)取小禮品。該活動興起于宋代。
英文原文：Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the lanterns. If visitors have solutions to the riddles, they can pull the paper out and go to the lantern owners to check their answer. If they are right, they will get a little gift. The activity emerged during people's enjoyment of lanterns in the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
整體節(jié)慶活動補(bǔ)充
白天有舞龍舞獅、劃旱船、扭秧歌、踩高蹺等表演；夜晚除大型燈會外，絢爛煙火也是一大景致。不少家庭會留存春節(jié)的煙花，留至元宵節(jié)燃放。
